When your child is in the age of 1 to 7 years old a lot of parents may notice that they start to not eat. This may make you worry that your child may not be receiving sufficient nutrition which can affect their growth. Today HappyMom.Life is here to give you some tips of how to get your kids to eat better.

Is Your Child Not Eating or Are You Over Feeding?

Pediatrician advises that sometimes parents notice that children eat less and get anxious. This is because by nature children under 1 year old will grow fast, so they get hungry quite often and tend to eat a lot. However, when children reach the age of 1-10 years, they will start to eat lesser. This is because the growth rate slows down. Therefore, if parents overfeed it may result in obesity. If your child’s weight is under the standard weight there is no need to worry.

Avoid Eating Junk-Food Throughout The Day

One of the main reasons that children eat less is because they tend to eat a lot of junk throughout the day which may reduce appetite. This also includes milk. Children of age 1 to 7 years old should eat food as their main source of energy and milk should be the supplement. Therefore, it is recommended to give them milk after their meal and only 2 to 3 times throughout the day.

Set Discipline & Rules For Their Eating Habits

Parents should set discipline for eating. For example, set a discipline for your child to eat on time and eat within a certain amount of time and discipline them when they do not finish their food. This will make them understand that they must finish their food.

Create A Happy Eating Environment

Parents should not scold or force children to eat, this will make them feel unhappy and lose their appetite. Moreover, it is not recommended to bargain or award them too much, just simple words of appreciation is enough. Also, it is recommended to let your child eat with you together as a family. Provide appropriate feeding equipment for children to create a warm and happy eating environment.

Teach Your Child To Self-Feed

Children under 3 years old may eat sloppy. However, it is recommended to teach your child to self-feed by making them sit at the dinner table with you. It is not recommended to run after your child and feed them and you should make it a habit for your child to eat and play as they can get distracted and stop eating.

Choose The Dishes That Your Child Likes To Eat

It is very important for parents to find out the food that the children like to eat. This will increase their appetite and encourage them to eat more. Moreover, if your child is old enough to choose his own menu, allow him to choose. However, it is important to keep in mind the nutrition value.

Kids tend to need food naturally. Therefore, parents should not worry too much. Overall, it is recommended to watch their weight and create a discipline for them and eventually this problem will fade away.
